Virtual worlds can be very different. Some are better not to enter without a sharp eye, some without quick reactions, and some without a powerful graphics card. In some places they demand furious clicking, in others quick thinking, and in others you can even doze off in the process. They have hot deserts, long rivers, high mountains, and wild forests. They have plenty of everything except freedom. Even in the freest worlds, choice comes down to a short list carved into the invariant of the story line and the gameplay. Why am I writing all this? I want to tell you about a world where you can put a good chunk of dynamite under that very invariant, build a real computer, ride across it on a pig, and then blow it all to hell. Or not blow it up, because it is freedom after all.
